Rack and Pinion Assembly

A rack and pinion is a type of linear actuator that comprises a pair of gears which convert rotational motion into linear motion. A circular gear called “The Pinion ” engages teeth on a linear “gear” bar called “the rack”; Rotational motion applied to the pinion causes the rack to move relative to the pinion, thereby translating the rotational motion of the pinion into linear motion.

The Rack And Pinion is used to convert between rotary and linear motion. The rack is the flat, toothed part, the pinion is the gear. Rack and pinion can convert from rotary to linear of from linear to rotary. Rack and pinion gears give a positive motion especially compared to the friction drive of a wheel in tarmac. In the rack and pinion railway a central rack between the two rails engages with a pinion on the engine allowing the train to be pulled up very steep slopes.

Our team of experts assists us in providing a superior quality range of racks & pinion gears as per the requirements of our esteem clients. It can increase the power density through higher hardness pinions.
